This growth, as reported by the Virginia Lottery, comes as Caesars Virginia, Rivers Casino Portsmouth, and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol continue to build momentum in the state’s young casino market.

Alongside higher player wins, the state collected $14.1 million in gaming taxes, funding local services and problem‑gambling programs.

Strong Growth Across All Casinos

The Virginia casino industry showed broad gains in June. Total revenue jumped from about $59.4 million in June 2024 to $78.5 million this year.

This surge helped push state gaming tax receipts up nearly $4 million compared to last June, supporting the Gaming Proceeds Fund, the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund, and the Family and Children’s Trust Fund.

Slot machines were the primary driver, accounting for roughly 75% of the month’s play. Table games also saw healthy growth, contributing the remaining quarter of revenue.

The combined performance reflects increased player interest and solidifies Virginia’s position as one of the fastest‑growing casino markets on the East Coast.

Performance of Individual Casinos

Among the three properties, Caesars Virginia in Danville led with $30.6 million in adjusted gross revenue for June.

Roughly $23.1 million came from its 1,451 slot machines, while table games added about $7.5 million. Rivers Casino Portsmouth followed closely, generating $26.46 million, with $18.6 million from its slots and $7.85 million from tables.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol rounded out the trio at $21.44 million, driven by $17.24 million in slot play and $4.2 million in table games. Hard Rock also posted the highest year‑over‑year growth rate among the three, a sign of its growing popularity in the Bristol market.

Each casino’s success highlights the appeal of land‑based gambling in Virginia and suggests continued growth in the months ahead.
